Craig Rasmus joins The Feds
Sydney production company The Fed has signed Craig Rasmus to it’s roster of directors.
His first outing is with an ad campaign for boxing apparel company Everlast including two 60-second spots, ‘Greatness Is Within’ and ‘Sometimes’. His reel also includes an advert for fashion label Ksubi and Copper’s Clear ‘Ghost’, a satire of the 1990 film Ghost.

But when the work is being archived and preserved properly, there’s always the possibility of a second chance. Take, for example, the work of Giorgio Mangiamele.

Shut Up Little Man, The Moment and Cropped among first nominees for AACTAs
The AFI (Australian Film Institute) and AACTA (Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts) have announced the first nominees for the inaugural AACTA Awards to be held in January 2012.
The nominations for best Feature Length Documentary, Best Animated Short Film, and Best Short Film accompany the announcement of 23 feature films at the AACTA launch.
Red Dog takes $10m and hopefully ‘opens the floodgates”
Michael Rymer, director of Face to Face, due out on September 8, said the success of Red Dog helps his film. “Every film that does well, Like Red Dog, benefits little films like Face to Face and big films like The Eye of the Storm. We can all lift up together. I know that sounds incredibly hippy-ish, but you know.”
Red Dog, the Australian film about a hitchhiking dog that captures the hearts of a 1970s mining town in the Pilbara, has now reached the $10.5m mark at the box office and in the process, surpassed classic Australian films’ box office success such as the The Castle and Shine.
ABC2 revives The Bazura Project, brings Twentysomething in September
ABC2 has four new local programs premieringthroughout September; comedy Twentysomething, film show The Bazura Project, live music show Triple J Presents and documentary night Sunday Best.
Producer Lauren Edwards joins Goalpost Pictures
Lauren Edwards has joined the team at Goalpost Pictures, the production company currently filming The Sapphires, directed by Wayne Blair in Sydney, which Edwards is Associate Producer on.
Edwards was producer on the Nash Edgerton directed, Edgerton/David Michod written short film, Bear which screened in competition at the 2011 Cannes International Film Festival.
Dungog outdone as Cockatoo Island announced as world’s largest Australian film festival
The title of the world’s largest Australian film festival will in 2012 move from Dungog Film Festival to Cockatoo Island Film Festival.
Co-founders of the Dungog Film Festival have announced the arrival of this new festival which will host over 200 Australian and 100 international films over a five day festival in the final quarter of next year.
Call for entries: Melbourne’s Brooklyn 72 Hour Film Festival
The Brooklyn 72 Hour Film Festival, part of Melbourne’s The Boroughs NYC Culture Festival, challenges filmmakers to create a film in 72 hours themed around New York City.
Beginning 6pm Friday 30 September and closing at 6pm Monday 3 October, filmmakers must include a surprise prop, to be supplied before the 72 hours at the Boroughs Film Directors meeting on the Friday.

TV’s Top 20 of Week 35: Nine’s clean sweep
The Nine Network made a clean sweep of the top 5 shows in week 35 on the back of their Sunday alone.
The Block – Winner Announced received became the highest rating show of 2011 with 3.289m followed by The Block – Auction with 2.687m.
